The WeSwap business and community have grown a huge amount in the last year, so we're taking this opportunity to share some updates to our Terms and Conditions, which will go into effect on the 26th September 2016.
The most important changes are:
Updated free ATM withdrawal thresholds
What: We've lowered the thresholds for free ATM withdrawals in euros, US dollars, Polish zloty, Canadian dollars, Hong Kong dollars and Japanese yen.
Why: ATMs in some countries have lower limits for the amount you can withdraw in one go, and this was affecting our travellers' ability to withdraw for free. It's really important to us that everyone can withdraw for free in any country we cover, so we've lowered the limits to make sure this happens.
Refund Fee
What: A £5 fee may be charged if you ask us to refund money back to a bank or debit card.
Why: It's become extremely expensive for us to send money back to banks or debit cards, to the point that we're no longer able to absorb the whole cost ourselves. To reduce the number of avoidable refunds to a fair level and cover some of the cost, we need to charge this fee. We'd rather not though, so it's much better - and quicker - to spend your leftover balance or keep the money on the card for your next trip. Rest assured we'll keep doing our utmost to bring this down.
We've also clarified our loading and spend limits, made some of the wording in our terms a bit clearer e.g. changing "redemption" to "refund" and included our fees table in our main terms so they're easier to find.
